Virginia Energy Efficiency Roadmap

Client Name: The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy

Project Name: Virginia Energy Efficiency Roadmap: U.S. Department of Energy State Energy Program Competitive Award

Project Description:

In 2015, Governor Terry McAuliffe formed the Governor's Executive Committee on Energy Efficiency to reduce retail electricity consumption by 10% in 2020 from a 2006 baseline, a reduction equal to 10.67 million megawatt hours (MWh).

The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) has received funding through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to provide technical and administrative support to the Governor's Executive Committee; develop a coalition of stakeholders to ensure all relevant perspectives are fully considered and key partners are engaged; analyze strategies to address the regulatory environment as it relates to the quantity and quality of energy efficiency programs offered by the utility sector; analyze strategies to address barriers and opportunities related to energy efficiency for each building sector; and develop a road-map document that will serve as a valuable resource for Virginia as well as other states.

CESI served as the primary consultant to DMME on this project. Other key partners were the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE), the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), and the Virginia Energy Efficiency Council (VAEEC).
